If you have not downloaded the sample product spreadsheet you will need to create one in order to upload it to the app.
In order to create a product your spreadsheet must include a 'Title' column. You can view the full list of product columns to see which ones are supported.
If you are creating your import in Excel, rename the current sheet to 'Products'. This will make it easier to Altera to identify what kind of data you are trying to import.
Open up the Altera app on your Shopify store
On the home page, click on Upload file and upload your product spreadsheet
The app will analyze your spreadsheet and try to determine which type of data is included in each sheet
Ensure that 'Products' is selected in the 'Type' dropdown for the sheet with product data
Click on Start import to begin the import
Depending on the number of products it may take a while for the import to complete. You can monitor the progress of the import on the job detail screen.
Once the import is complete you will have the option to download the results file by clicking on the Download button on the top-right of your screen.
The import results file is your original file with four columns added:
- ID (Ref) - The ID of the new product
- Handle (Ref) - The handle of the new product
- Import Result - If the import was successful or not
- Import Comment - Any error message
